What Do You Know About Resilience?

“Let There Be Rock!” and Resilience!

Today marks the release of AC/DC’s newest album, PWR UP. If you ever wondered what the word resilience meant, then consider this:

Just 5 months after the death of their iconic singer Bon Scott in 1980, AC/DC released Back in Black, considered by many the greatest hard rock album of all time. That in itself is a feat already.

The years 2014-2017 proved even more challenging for the band, to the point where many thought AC/DC was a dead act:

– In 2014, drummer Phil Rudd faced up to 10 years in jail for attempting to hire hitmen
– In 2016, during the Rock or Burst tour, lead singer Brian Johnson had to stop touring because of deteriorating hearing; he was replaced for the rest of the tour by Guns N’ Roses’ singer Axl Rose
– Not even a week after the end of the tour, bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement
– In November 2017, founding member and rhythm guitarist extraordinaire Malcom Young died

In early 2018, it was hard to imagine the band could revive with such a strong line-up.

Today, 6 years after the Rock or Burst album, AC/DC is releasing their 17th studio album. The band line-up is the exact same one as 6 years ago save for the late Malcom Young, replaced by his nephew Stevie Young.

What do you know about resilience? How are you using resilience as an ally in your leadership role?
