Is Pain Helpful?

“Is pain helpful”? Consider a time when you inadvertently put your hand on a hot stove. Did it help then to feel the pain of the burn? Of course it did, pain was necessary, but only for 1 second.

Negative emotions are necessary to warn us against a danger for instance, but only for split seconds. What about you? Like most people, do you also keep negative emotions buried with you for hours, days, years sometimes? How does that hinder your ability to see a situation clearly and respond to it with a focused positive mind?

Neuroscience research of habit formation shows that our brains are wired in such a way as to react to an event mostly with negative emotions, which have been built over time (fear, anger, stress, etc.)

The good news is, there is a way to retrain your brain to focus more on positive emotions instead (empathy, creativity, curiosity, laser-focused action, etc.)

The key to this is a simple mechanism of growing your mental muscles through daily exercise that takes at most 15 minutes of your day.
