How To Retain Talent in a Post-Covid World?

Here is a very plausible post-Covid scenario: You have a highly qualified software engineer working for your company in the Midwest, earning 75 k$ a year. A Silicon Valley company, promoting home office every day for every one offers her a job: She can still work from the Midwest, but the company will pay her 90 k$ a year instead. This is 20% more annual salary for her; the new company still pays her 20% less than the average Silicon Valley software engineer and gets access to a profile in high demand.

As a leader, and a corporation, what is your plan to retain your talents in the face of this?

This is what for sure will not help you retain your talents:

– Bad leadership
– Toxic culture and communication with too many conflicts
– Artificial company culture
– Bureaucracy and outdated processes
– Etc, you get the idea!

On the contrary, here are some things that may well contribute to your retaining your talents and continue to be competitive in a post-Covid world:

– Strong leaders who can also coach their teams
– Great learning and development opportunities
– Clear vision
– Work-life balance

As a leader, what other things do you see enabling you to retain your top talents in the team and company? Tell me in the comments.
