Dare Tell Your Boss They Are Wrong?

Dare Tell Your Boss They Are Wrong?

Can you remember a time when you had to tell your boss or any boss above your level they were wrong?

How did you feel then?

If I had to guess, I’d say you were most likely stressed, anxious, fearful, not knowing how to approach your boss, what to tell them, and how to tell it.

Maybe, in the end, you even decided not to have that difficult conversation.

I get it. I’ve been there myself. It is super hard to tell a boss they are wrong.

In fact, it is probably one of the top 3 hardest things a leader must learn to do.

Nowadays, I can tell a boss they are wrong, because I have developed a process to do this the right way. It does not prevent me from being anxious, but I don’t shy away from telling the boss.

This process works well because it builds on the trust between my boss or any other leader above me and myself. It also builds on clarity and expectations.

Might that be a model you’d like to try for yourself?

I have created an online 3-video course on the topic of mastering difficult communication for leaders and the second video in that course focuses exclusively on how to manage communication with a boss.
