Change Your Leadership Style NOW!

Covid has likely changed the way we will look at work forever.

Significant changes are already happening in the corporate world.

This is not only about where people physically work from.

This is about how we, as leaders, will exercise leadership differently in the future.

For instance, today, most of us still focus primarily on time spent working. The more meetings and calls we and our teams have, the better we feel, because it means we work, or so we think. But how productively are we really working?

Tomorrow’s leadership will be about focusing on outcomes. I won’t care so much as to when in the day or how long people on my team work – well, I will definitely care if they spend too much time working and don’t have a life; I don’t want them to burn out. What I will care about is whether the work is done and we produce the results we committed to. That we need 1 or 3 hours, that the work is done in the morning or late evening will become progressively irrelevant.

Likewise, one skill that all leaders must have in the future is empowering their people through trust. We will need to trust the people on our teams with shaping their work themselves so they achieve the desired outcomes. It will require so much more from leaders: More communication, more active listening, more coaching of our people, more constructive feedback.
