It’s a pity and frankly a disservice to executives – and everyone else for that matter – that they do not consider knowing themselves a top concern or priority.

When leaders are oblivious of their self-limiting beliefs for instance, this can seriously derail their careers and success.

In my coaching vocabulary, self-limiting beliefs are often referred to as saboteurs.

Saboteurs are behaviors that we have and that, although they can bring short-term success and satisfaction, are sure to cause us problems in the long term, in the form of stress, anxiety, unhappiness.

It is always possible to tame one’s saboteurs, primarily by being aware of them and designing specific actions or structures to counter them for our own good!
